Funeral services for Mr. Berdette Hooper, 87, of the Yarnell Community of Panola County, Texas will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Hill and Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial and Masonic Rites will follow in the Reeves McMillan Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home. Mr. Hooper died March 21, 2012 in Carthage, Texas.

Mr. Pierce Berdette Hooper was born January 11, 1925 in Panola County. He was the twelveth child of thirteen born to the marriage of Franklin Tildon and Carolina “Carrie” Jane Johnson Hooper. He went to schools in rural Yarnell community later he married Carlene Carswell in August of 1945 and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Berdette worked for Arkla Gas for over 24 years later retiring from Enron in 1990. Mr. Hooper was a member of New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church since 1948 where he served as a deacon. He was a 60 year Master Mason with the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 A.F. & A.M. Berdette is preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Douglas Hooper and 11 siblings.

Mr. Hooper is survived by his loving wife, Carlene Hooper of Yarnell, son, Terry Mickel Hooper and wife Patti of Carthage, daughter, Jo Ann Parker and husband Ronald of New Iberia, LA, daughter-in-law, Sharon Hooper of Carthage, brother, Curtis Hooper of Yarnell, grandchildren, Heidi Martin and husband Andy of New Iberia, Ronda Jo Lojo and husband David, Sr. of San Antonio, Mary Heather Hovey and husband Todd of Joaquin, Darrik Hooper and wife Teel of Beckville, Tiffani Perkins and husband Randy of Big Sandy, Mia Davis and husband Marty of Deadwood, Tilden Hooper of Carthage, thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Lojo, Andy Martin, Todd Hovey, Randy Perkins, Ricky Pride, Marty Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Darrik Hooper, Tilden Hooper, James Hovey, Reagan Hovey, Joseph Martin and David Lojo.

The family suggests memorials to the Reeves McMillan Cemetery Association or The Marian Place Assisted Living.
